Saddam Hussein's Death Sentence

the mother of all kangaroo courtsThe trial was a farce, it was flagrantly a political instrument of the United States; it was so heavily partisan that one judge resigned and one judge was removed, it was, to use the cliche, the mother of all kangaroo courts. It was the current Prime Minister, Al-Maliki's, Islamic Dawa party that claims to have organised the plan to assassinate Saddam, which precipitated the murders of a 148 people in Dujail in 1982, for which Saddam was tried with crimes against humanity. The death sentence was a forgone conclusion.

This notwithstanding, it is right that Saddam should be executed, Saddam's crimes against Iraqi Shia and Kurds are exceeded by his invasion of Iran, the war not only cost over a million lives, Saddam fought it at the behest of Britain and the United States, to oppose the spread of Islam in the region and keep the oil reserves out of indigenous Muslim control. For the great harm that he did Iraq and Iran, for the crimes against the Muslim Ummah, Sunni and Shia alike, his execution is necessary. Since, although his execution will enrage his supporters and undoubtedly exploited by the Wahhabis and most Iraqis were demanding it.
